The Eighty Eight Raiders Code of Conduct
In the interests of getting our guild off to a good start and preventing any recurrences of some recent events, the following code of conduct is in place, and all guild members are required to abide by it. Repercussions are listed and will be applied regardless of rank or popularity.
Any reported violation will be investigated by two officers not immediately involved in the incident. If no two such officers exist, the matter will be investigated by an officer and the guild master. In the case of a reported violation by the guild master, all other officers will investigate.
1: Civility - All 88R members are expected to remain civil and courteous towards each other, and all other players in all public forums.
It is fine to disagree. It is fine to think somebody did something wrong. It is fine to express it in a civil and polite manner.
It is not fine to be rude to other guild members because they made a mistake or did or would do things differently than you. It is not fine to harass other players publicly or privately. It is not fine to publicly ridicule or disparage other players, even if they are themselves being impolite.
When you post in a public forum, your post takes on the weight of the guild. We do not need to be wasting time fighting PR fires. We do not need to be dealing with guild members leaving because of rudeness or disrespect. If you are feeling angry about something a guild member did, bring it up to an officer, or take a break and cool off. Angry vitriol, even if you were a wronged party, is not appropriate, and will be dealt with.
2: Three Warnings System - Behaviour which goes against the code of conduct should be brought to the attention of guild officers.
FIRST OFFENSE: a warning is issued.
SECOND OFFENSE: suspension from guild raids for one week.
THIRD OFFENSE: removal from the guild.
Warnings are to be issued by the GM or Player Development officer. They are not to be given at the time of the incident, or by an officer involved in the incident. Officer discussion on the forums is to be conducted prior to issueing the official warning. The warning will be given within 36 hours of the incident.
At the time of the incident, an officer will let the guild member know that their behaviour is against the Code Of Conduct, however this will not constitute the official warning.
After one month of "good behaviour", a first warning will be revoked, in the same manner as points on a driver's license. After 3 months of "good behaviour", a second warning will be revoked.
A thread will be maintained with any active warnings, including their dates.
3: Ninjas - Looting of gear you did not win legitimately will not be tolerated.
All players winning a 'Need' roll are expected to equip the gear on the spot, even if the group is not an 88R group. If you want gear for an alt, or for another guild member, it may only be taken as a 'Greed' roll.
For those players who are not yet lvl60, if you join a group who allows you to roll on an item you are not yet of a level to equip and you win, the rule of immediate equipping obviously does not apply. Bear in mind, that this exception is only for rolling on items you *intend* to use. This waiver is not in place so that non-60's can roll on items they can't yet use in order to make a quick gold piece. Players found abusing this loophole will be disciplined under the ninjaing rules. It is expected that players who win such items will equip them as soon as they can upon attaining the appropriate level.
Any player reported and found guilty of ninja looting will be removed from the guild after a complete investigation.
4: Guild website participation - all 88R members are expected to visit the website at least weekly to address any guild matters which require their input or vote. A member who has not signed up or visited the website will remain at the rank of initiate, and may not participate in guild raids. If a player is going to be away for any reason for a month or more, they are expected to notify an officer, or risk being removed from the guild.
Raid spots will be filled first by members who sign up on the web site calendar, then by members who are confirmed to be signed up on the web site.
Potential guild members will not be issued a /ginvite unless they have submitted a member request on the web site.
Members who are going to be away for a length of time need to notify an officer.
5: Raid behavior - guild members are expected to listen to the raid leader and follow directions. Spamming the raid channel to perform extra quest/raid runs or with idle chatter is not appropriate. Raid chat is reserved for direct raid matters, including pull instructions, questions to the raid leader, and AFK/wait to pull notifications.
Repeated violations of this policy in a raid will result in being booted from the raid. The raid leader may also withhold DKP for players in violation.
Players are also expected to exhibit a basic level of consideration and courtesy to the rest of the raid. Going AFK without notification to the raid leader, showing up too intoxicated to function properly, etc., are grounds for being removed from the raid.
Repeated occurrences of raid boots for violation will result in being banned from guild raids for a week.
Repeated bans will result in guild removal.
6: Add-ons - experience with UGA runs and 88R runs has proven repeatedly that certain add-ons are nigh-required for the success of a run, and not all add-ons are the same for different instances. The officers will post separately the required add-ons for the various end-game instances. Players wishing to be involved in a given run are responsible for having those add-ons in place prior to the run.
Players lacking those add-ons may be removed from the raid by the raid leader at their prerogative. The raid leader can also withhold DKP awards for a player for failure to load an add-on which puts the raid at risk or causes it to fail.
Repeated failure to load add-ons can result in being banned from guild raids until such time as proof of loading can be shown.
Patch-related add-on failures are not the responsibility of the player.
